SEO Audit Checklist for Brisbane Small Businesses
Use this SEO audit checklist to assess indexing, service-page content, internal links and the customer journey before prioritising practical fixes.
← All insightsAn SEO audit for a Brisbane small business should identify problems that affect customer enquiries, not just produce a long list of plugin warnings. Start with the pages that describe your most valuable services, then check whether they can be found, understood and used on a phone.
Start your SEO audit checklist with indexing
List the homepage, core services and contact page. Check that each returns normally, is indexable when intended and has a sensible canonical URL. Compare the XML sitemap with the pages you actually want in search. A sitemap submission does not force indexing, but it helps reveal accidental omissions. Inspect a few URLs in Search Console before making broad site changes.
Compare search visibility with business value
In Search Console, identify the pages and queries that bring impressions and clicks. Separate branded searches from services customers are discovering for the first time. A page with relevant impressions but few clicks may need a clearer search title. A page with clicks but few enquiries needs a closer look at its offer, proof and contact path.
Include content and internal links in your SEO audit checklist
Check whether each service page explains what is included, who it suits and what a visitor should do next. Look for several pages competing for the same query. Link supporting guides to the relevant service using descriptive text. Fix broken links and orphaned pages before adding more articles simply to increase the post count.
Test the customer journey on mobile
Open the page on a phone. Can you read the copy, use the menu, tap the phone number and submit the form? Inspect loading behaviour and major layout shifts. Accessibility problems such as weak contrast or unclear button names affect real visitors too. Note functional issues separately from cosmetic score opportunities.
Prioritise findings from your SEO audit checklist
Rank issues by the number of important pages affected, the likelihood of lost enquiries and the effort to repair them. A broken contact form or accidental noindex is urgent. A minor title-length warning is lower priority when the live search result communicates the service clearly. Record the before state and test after each change.
